Here is Mike's (hubby) new McNaab pup we got some from friends. His name is Cotton. He's our first McNaab.

This is our first foal of the year. No name yet, a bay and white filly.

Nicky, please tell me more about these McNaab pups. I've never heard of them and I really like the looks of that pup of Mike's.

Awwww sooo cute on both pics.

I have heard of McNaabs, but not many in our part of the country. Friend of mine does the cow dog competitions on the west coast and said he was going to bring some home, but hadnt seen if he got one yet. Would love to see pics as it grows up..and how you like the way they work.

Cotton looks so tiny, how old is he? And that filly........well, I've never seen such a pretty paint filly in my life. She's gonna be a big mare, if she grows into those long legs!!! I know you must be proud!

Don't know if Nicky will agree with me, but the McNabs we have had
are just a mellower kind of Border Collie that is a little more aggressive.

Now remember...this is our first McNab (I spelled it wrong earlier). I've never seen one work, but according to our friends that we got him from they really good. (The friend just so happens to be one of FH's nieghbors, brothers Confused )

According to what I looked up about them and what Cal said: When the McNab family moved to California in the late 1800's from Scotland they didn't like the local dogs so they imported some Scotch Collies from Scotland. Scotch Collies are also what the Border Collies are descended from. Then they bred those dogs to the local working dogs until they got a dog that will head or heel. So now you all know what I know Wink

He is 8 weeks old and quite a character.

The filly is a cutie and STILL doesn't have name.

I have heard about them for many years, I raised Borders for 15 yrs. And this friend that I have he trains stock dogs and does the trials, at one time he had told me about wanting to get some and cross them with the dogs we have here. Hadnt talked to him in awhile...might have to check into it. I miss my borders big time.

Nicky just let us know how the training and how you like him as time goes on.
