Well, I finally went out and saddled Dili (cherokee for skunk, lol). She's gonna be 3 on August 19th, so I figured I better get going. She really has no problem with anything any more. I've ridden her around bareback and put a saddle on her lots. But today I put the saddle on her and actually cinched it up. She still had no problem, so I led her around and made every possible sound I could with the saddle. She was actually kinda bored, so I climbed up on her. Then she just cruised around the arena, so I went and got the hackamore I got for my birthday and put it on her, and got her to turn when I was on her. I can't wait till she's completely broke. I think she'll be a pretty good cowhorse. Her sire is Mays QT and her dam is A Double Shot O Doc. Here are a few of the pix I took. They were hard to take cuz she just followed me around and I couldn't hardly get far enough away to get a decent picture lol
Dili with her hackamore on.
mmmm weeds!
Dili attacking the camera bag lol
Little Black Streke (Dili) and Hands Down Hancock (Patch..aka sw's brat lol)
Theres only a few bad things about her:
1. She has almost no withers, so I might not be able to rope off of her.
2. She's such a pest, you can't get her out of the way.
3. She's so friendly and such a pet, it's nearly impossible to make her "go". ive tried kicking, leg pressure, and all the sounds i use when im workin with her at halter. ill find somethin some day lol
4. She likes shoes. Don't ask. Don't let her sniff your shoes either.

Great pics, MCG!!!!!!!!!
She's a pretty thang, that first pic reminds me of my old mare, Raven. She was also a black, with a tiny white star (her only white, though).
Thanks for sharing. Hope the rest of the training goes as well as this did!

| MCG way to go. Don't worry about withers as long as you have a good fitting saddle you'll be good. My yellow horse has no withers but the saddle I ride sets him so well that most of the time you don't even need a breast collar. Good Luck.

| Maybe just try riding her with one saddle pad-I've had a few mutton withered horses that it worked with-to be honest I've never double padded a horse in my life and have always gotten along fine. That's a nice big stout filly for sure. You get working cows on her she might liven up a bit once she figures out when it's game on. Maybe give her a few more oats too the poor thing is wasting away on you-I'm surprised sw doesn't weigh 400 pounds-I have a feeling things get pretty top notch care around your outfit.

o.O just got inside from workin with Dili again. Well, she finally figgered that she can turn and move around with me on . She was walkin, trottin, and turnin both ways pretty well, so sw left me there in the corrals. Well when she figgered out she could move, she also figgered out that she can buck as well LOL. She was trottin around the pen and then the saddle slipped a lil to the left and she decided that she didnt like that lol. So then off we went buckin towards the two double gates at the end of the arena *yikes!* I thought she was gonna run into or try to jump over em, but at the last second she turned and I hit the fence and went down. Not hurt too bad, my left hip hurts a lil bit and my right elbow is scraped up. Don't ask how both sides got banged up a lil lol. The worse pain right now is my headache, from the ground. But no big deal. I thought I'd get dumped earlier by the older horse I ride to work cows, since the last time I rode him was in October and I got bucked off then. But I ran him around lots since hes so freakin fat and didn't have a single prob with him. lol
