I had an Uncle pass away. To say he was my favorite would be an understatement. He was a very fun guy, a great carpenter and one-time City Sheriff/Public works guy. It was in the day of wearing lots of hats when working for the City of Joseph, Oregon.....
But the most appropriate thing I can say is, if my nieces and nephews think of me the way I think of him, I have been a great uncle,

I'm sorry.
Those 'special ones' are so tough to lose.
I'll be thinking of you in your loss.

God, make him brave for life: oh, braver than this.
Let him straighten after pain, as a tree straightens after the rain,
Shining and lovely again.
God, make him brave for life; much braver than this.
As the blown grass lifts, let him rise
From sorrow with quiet eyes,
Knowing Thy way is wise.
God, make him brave, life brings
Such blinding things.
Help him to keep his sight;
Help him to see aright
That out of dark comes light.
Amen

ditto on all of the above.
Its not about how much money you leave behind, sometimes its about all the rest.
Sorry about your loss, PPRM. We all need to fill somebody's shoes that were bigger than ours.

Sure sorry about your loss. I really like to poem and wanted to share it with you....
For each thorn, there's a rosebud...
for each twilight a dawn...
for each trial the strength to carry on,
For each stormcloud a rainbow...
for each shadow the sun...
for each parting sweet memories
when sorrow is done.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Never forget the sweet memories.
