A lesson in being lazy...

This is a warning to all who cut corners...

Last night I went out to rasp a colts feet. I looked around and couldnt find the gloves, so I grabbed my rasp and off I went. Keep in mind I know better and was simply being lazy. Rasping feet, colt being amazing for first trim, and all of a sudden blood spurting every where. Hmmm I check colts foot thought maybe I had popped an absess or something. Hmm nothing still blood everywhere now it's dripping on the ground.. Guess what the ditzy blonde rasped her index finger real good! Now of course this could have been really bad, in the end it was just a boo boo but folks WEAR YOUR GLOVES!!!!! Lesson learned!!!!!

Yeah that smarts doesn't it.I don't do that very often and I can't wear gloves they drive me nuts. The worst I ever got it was this spring when I was trimming a colt that I had been riding. I had my nippers set and was about half way thru the cut when he jerked his leg away, the edge of the nippers went thru my jeans and put a gash in my thigh. Nope don' t use shoeing chaps either. I guess I deserve what I get. My brother is a professional and I have seen some near misses with him. He said the worst was a nail that he was driving thru when the horse blew, cut his hand and tore a whole in his chaps. Luckly for the horse it was an outside nail.

I guess we can really call them accidents they are kind of "intentionals". Glad you managed to make it out of that one with only a scrape. Could have been so much worse. It is amazing how we know better and still go ahead and short cut anyhow...Humans go figure...

Well you don't need gloves if all ytou do is lean on the crowbar lol. They used to bug me so much when I played hockey I used to
have to shake them off while the game was on lol.

It drives my hubby nuts because I won't even use them in the winter unless it is really cold or we're feeding small squares. My hands are so small that the fingers on an average pair of gloves are way to long. What is worse then not being able to grab something beacuase theres an inch of leather in your way!

maybe that's it! my hands are really small too...the only time i'll wear em is if it's really really cold or if we're out hookeybobbin in the snow when you're hookeybobbin, you end up thankful that you had em, those cow turds hurt when you're hangin on to the side of a sled and ya hit em

get some of those fitted winter riding gloves for women. They come in all sizes and shapes and well they fit like a glove.LOL Just like a second skin. I wear the largest size in the womens as I have really long fingers. But my sister in law is a tiny little one @ 4'11 can fit into the small ones. She has really short fingers and a really wide palm.

They wash up really nicely as well.

I wear gloves doin just about any and all ranch chores. They live on the dash of my truck, so I know where they are at all times. If someone moves em, well..........lets just say, they hear about it!!!

I buy large childrens work gloves, they fit really good, but the one's that are really good work gloves are hard to find that small. Sometimes I run across a women's extra small and they fit good too.
