| We were in one of our closest cities today, Stettler, drove past a KFC store posted outside so all traffic could see,Help Wanted, starting wage$11.00. Stopped at a A&W{not sure if this is Canadian...a hamburger, fast food place}posted inside,Help wanted...part time wage $12.00-Full time $14.00 Starting . We have an Oil boom going on in Alberta right now,NOBODY can get workers, the oil patch pays sickening amounts of money.Seriously Albertas going crazy!!!

| Last week our government decieded to bring in people from other countries to start filling these positions, this in itself is not a good thing. We have alot of people from our own country abusing our welfare system that should be MADE to go out and work...with these kind of wages for working in fast food places, how can they not do it. I' hope to gosh our government isn't paying welfare recipents $14.00 an hour for sitting at home.

You know I never came here for work. Really we came here before the boom.
Preston Manning and Ralph Klein sparked my interest. The liberals were driving me crazy back east and I wanted to live someplace where there wernt any.
Will James,Wilf Carter and Ian Tyson contributed to my idea of coming to Alberta . The big attraction was the land itself. Perfect horse country. Still lots of remote areas and huge numbers of big game.
Here is the thing though. All of this economic success is destroying what made Alberta so great in the first place. Just last night I met a truck when I was out riding asking if he could access the forestry from where he was. I informed him he was on private land. This guy was from Saskatchewan.
4 days before that there was two guys in a truck back here doing the same thing. They were from Medicine Hat.
Like if I take a horse out I have to stay away from the gravel roads because everytime I get close to one there is always some tourist wanting to take my picture.
I live 45 minutes from town on gravel roads. If I drive to town I bet I will meet anywhere from 4 to a dozen trucks one way! Plus these acreages are getting closer and closer to where I live .
In the summer there are all these hickers everywhere and in the fall its all these hunters trampling around everywhere. These people are not from around here. Its getting awful. Then you got friggen airplanes flying overhead
But I can sure see a big difference between now and ten years ago and it isnt for the better. Where overstocked with people and its ruining the province.

You know Roper I kind of forgot your from the East because you are such a positive advocate for Alta. I soooo agree with you about the amount of people coming into our province, the OVERCROWDING of everything...the housing and land prices. I do NOT think this boom is ALL positive to say the least

I have been all over North America and its because of this that I love Alberta so much. A lot of people who have lived here all their lives tend to kind of take Alberta for granted.
Anything is possible in Alberta. It truly is the land of milk and honey where dreams can come true.
I dont know how to say it but its hard not to be posative when you live in Alberta because anything is possible here. Opportunities everywhere!
LOLs Im going to shut up though because I dont want to cause more people to come here
