Back east we used to use tree stands for whitetails. We would build them big enough so that we could sleep in them. We would gear up a 12 volt light that ran on a truck battery. The light would be aimed at the carrot pile and hooked up to a switch.
All you had to do was go back to your tree stand after work and sleep. When the deer started crunching on the carrots it would wake you up.
Hit the switch, aim and fire.

| Roper you should visit near-northern Ontario to see all the Toronto hunters in the fall sitting at the side of the road in lawnchairs, 50 yards apart, waiting for their deer to come out of the woods. I have a neighbour who runs cattle on Crown Land along a hydro right of way, he puts an ad on the radio every fall to remind the hunters that deer aren't red with white faces so "PLEASE don't shoot anymore Herefords this year!"
