IL Rancher, the Pleasure Horses are taught to lope very slow, with
their head very low. They are known as "Peanut Rollers" because their
nose is so close to the ground it is said they could 'roll peanuts.'
What you are feeling is their unnatural way of travelling, most likely.
But it can be smooth.

Pleasure horses actually break down alot faster than an actual working horse. I just havent figured out why yet.
If you are looking for some nice working horses go to dreamhorse.com There are zillions of them on there. Hope you find something really nice. I still say a good old fashioned Morgan is the best ranch horse you will ever own. I tried to like quarter horses to be trendy, even took some lessons, nope I'll take a Morgan any day.

I have thought about Morgans... Saw some earlier this summer but they were TINY little things... Thought it was a yearling colt but it was a 2 year old gelding.. Probably just the breeder.. Reminded me of the 2 year old Arabian I saw getting trained the other day.... Looked oukay with the 10 year old girl on it, I'm thining my feet would have beend raggin on the ground Wink

I think partly why they break down, is they travel so down in front, or
on their front end that it is not normal. JMO, however.

Morgans make nice horses. What I have against them is their
withers...they haven't any.

IL Rancher,

Most Morgans are between 14.2 and 15.2 so bout the same size as a quarter horse. They typically weight quite abit more though. I have seen some little dinky ones, stick to the old working lines if you get one. The new fandangled type are so hot they will kill ya! There heads are straight up in the air like a Saddlebred. Lippert or nothing!

I had always heard that the MOrgans were a nice horse and never had heard that they were small which was why this one guys where so darn tiny...

We shall see, probably have a hard time finding working ones around here just as you can't find working horses... oh well, can't hurt to consider that as an option.
