Any insurance on those cows ACS? I mean, we would be out some money but not all of it... I think that would be covered under our basic farm policy up here, same as theft or lightning or getting stuck in an electric fence (Strangest thing I have ever seen).. Can't remember what our deductable is on those incidents..
I can't imagine just shooting a cow for fun or whatever... I have a real hard time even putting one down that is hurt.. Wife says I always look ashen after coming in from doing it to a calf or a cow that just isn't going to get better.

No insurance on the commercials, and we tried to get something for mer, but they said since we dont know who done it they cant do anything, so I think someone is in for a arse whoopin he wont forget .
I cant ptu a cow down, I did it once, and I bawled before during and after, Its like seeing a loved one on life support for me, theyre mu buddies, just like the ones at school, and when they have a baby, well then thats just real cruel.
She was shot in the head so at least she diddnt suffer.

Aw, ACS, that's terrible. I hope you find out who's doing that, and why, and then throw the book at 'em, real good!
Back in the mid-80s, we had a bull and 2 cows suddenly show up (on our mesa, where a public road goes through) with broken legs. One cow (a young mother, with a month old or so calf) had a compound fracture of the hind leg, and the off front leg was also broken. That made us all pretty hot under the collar, but (fortunately) it never happened again and (unfortunately) we never were able to find out who did it or why. We are still sure to this day, that someone intentionally hit them with a vehicle.....probably some of those anti-cattle loonies that lived in Mogollon at the time, and were always complaining about our cattle being in town (that had been our cattle range since back in the early 1900s...... and NM law states that you have to fence cattle off your private property, not vice-versa. They'd throw up some little dinky useless "fence" and then shoot our cattle when they would cross the "fence". We finally just quit putting the cows up there at all...... )
I still have Big Jim's horns. He was one heck of a bull, had to turn his head sideways to get into the trailer.

Usually at school someone will brag about shooting this cow, when they do, and I find out, theyre going to be wishing real hard they diddnt shoot.
Toio bad about that Ranchy, have you ever noticed it happens to the folks that try to run a good place, and never the come-out-once-a-week-or-so- ranchers?
