| the nicest looking fence I've seen in a long time is Northern's electric. Looks sharp and perdy. I'll be doing all of the fence in saskabush that way. I don't have to deal with the hunter/jumper crowd there.

| So when is the E.T.A of your arrival to the have-not province lol. I'll build you some fence-as long as you don't need it straight lol. You can ride some young horses. My back takes fencing better than buckoffs lol.

set the corner post
stretch some wire or string betweenthe corners.
if it is a long stretch, set one or two post in the middle of the span being careful to not push the wire over with the post, keep the post a tiny bit away from the wire.
set all the rest of the post but keep them like 1/2 inch away from the wire. (if any of them touch the wire, you will end up with a bow in the fence)(IT IS A VERY IMPORTANT TO KEEP THE POST AWAY FROM THE WIRE).
roll up the wire you used to set the post to.
unroll the horse fence
start practicing !@#$%^&*+ new words
lean the wire up against the post
fasten one end of the wire to the fence corner. possibly wrap the wire around a piece of pipe or a short post and then fasten that to the corner with #9 wire out a foot or more from the corner. More if you want to come back and tighten the wire from both ends.
fasten the other end of the wire as you did in stip 9, but do it far enough back from the corner that when you get the wire tight, it does not quit reach the corner post. (other wise you may have to re set the pipe/post on the horse fence are streatch it again.
use a fence stretcher near the top of the pipe/post fastened to the wire, and another stretcher near the bottom.
walk along wire and raise it up and let it back down to make sure it isn't stuck in the ground and not moving.
Tighten the wire some more.
TIP if the fence is short or for all barbed wire, I use a goldenrod stretcher. before I ever use on of those, I take it to the shop and weld about 5 inches of pipe or flat iron on the end of the stretcher to keep the movable end from trying to slip over the stop and also give me a place for my hand that don't get pinched. then I find a thin pipe that will slip over the handle when flattened a bit and weld on a piece about 10 inches to a foot longer than the original handle. This allows even a weak srimp like myself to get the wire tight.
If you have a long stretch you would probbly want to use a come along or rope stretcher or possily hook it to a tractor / pickup with a old car tire between two chains (for a bit of a coushin) to get the slack out of the wire.
fyi I really don't know what I am talking about, so don't blame me if it looks like you had some crown royal before you started the fence insetad of useing it (the Crown) after you built the fence and before you inspected the finished fence.
