My daughter and her commercial show heifer at the junior show in Brooks this past weekend.

she won her class split but was beaten overall by a very nice blue roan shortie show heifer.

Wow, that's great, elwapo! Congrats to her! It's wonderful to see how many more kids are opting for heifers, instead of (or addition to) steers for their projects any more.

Ranchy. I find that the kids that are serious in 4-h have heifer projects. The only downfall of beef 4-h is that many kids are there for the steer money.

We hear you, El, some are in it for the money and you can tell by how well "behaved" their animals are. MCG worked on her steer, but out in the arena, he was a pill. I imagine everyone gets one or two of those in a lifetime.

MCG also takes a breeding class, last couple years she took in a bull, I think she wants to take another one in. It's funny seeing those kids in the Round Robin getting the shakes having to show a bull. Her bulls are gentler than her steers Confused
