You know what gets me Jason....NR just proved to you in this thread the reson him and so many more of us have changed our calving season to March-April and it totally went over your head
I'm not sure if you've ever taken the time or interest to read any of andybobs posts,if not you should they're really interesting. Imagine if,after moving here, someone told him you should join ranchers.net...you'll learn how to properly raise cattle in North America. Imagine how his head would spin.Texas they raise Brangus in 100+ weather,Soapweed cakes his animals, some swath graze, some use dogs others hate them, horses used in some areas, quads are used by others the numerous ways some brand.....you get my point everone raises thier animals in the area and conditions we're given, doesn't make anyone better or raise better animals. And guess what we all try to "stupid" proof but we're working with animals...s*** happens.Just ask Lilly this week, and maybe us next week....Have a good day,I'm off work

You summed it up pretty well Mrs. Greg. Through trial and error, most areas have found what works best, and it was applied. But I think it is always good to think out of the box, as the world is always changing, and we have to change with it. I also see a lot of things going full circle, heading back to the way our ansestors did them. (Calving later, in sync. with nature, etc.)
Have a safe drive to work, and a nice Sunday.

I don't recall every making fun of those that calve later.
I have seen many who calve later make remarks about those that calve earlier.
I guess double standards are alive and well.
If you go back and read my posts Mrs. Greg I clearly said there are places in this world I wouldn't think of calving in January. From the pictures Northern Sask. is high on that list.
