A deficit is a deficit. If somebody stole your cows, does it matter if 10 guys stole 10 each or 2 took 50 each? It boils down to being out 100 head either way.
Actually I think deficit is defined as the amount by which expenditures exceed income or budget (I thought a banker would know that )
Such a perceptive answer you gave me - what does 100 head of cow theft have to do with the US deficit with China? |
Actually Sandhuskers theft comparison brought home the point to me. Mutinational companies ARE the New World Order folks and these companies ARE stealing comodities from countries all over the world. If they can't steal it from desperation type third world nations, they screw with government rules and steal it anyway. In the case of Rcalf, cedardell, their cherry picking science and mental health issues over protectionism are simply helping the multinationals steal and screwing the very producers they say they are out to protect.

I'll agree with you about the multi-nationals arbitraging commodities with the blessings of government. It's this notion that trade is the holy grail combined with government by the highest bidder.
However, I'd have to disagree with you, Randy, when you say R-CALF is playing into their hands. I say we're doing the opposite, we're hindering them. You've identified the problem of government doing the bidding of big business to the detriment of producers - but you don't recognize that is exactly what the USDA is doing falling all over themselves trying to open up to Canada! Look at all the questionable actions they've done, and look who benefits. It's a pretty short and well marked trail.
Allowing the USDA and AMI to get what they want with the border deal hurts both of us. It keeps you guys dependent on us, keeps the CFIA on the USDA's teat, and keeps control of the Canadian packing industry in the hands of foreigners who couldn't give a crap less about you or your government. It's just business as usual and you'll go where Tyson and Cargill want you to go and no place else.
It hurts us because the AMI/USDA will be allowed to set precident of doing just what the hell they want to when they want to, regardless of what they've said in the past and regardless of ethics and/or legality. It allows them to do exactly what you've described as the problem and the green light in the future. This crap they're pulling has got to be stopped yesterday.
