| Congratulations, Jerry H, on a nifty picture. Those boots are built differently than any I've seen before, with the pull holes located in an unusual spot. They look like they're built "foot tuff." Who made them for you?

I also noticed the different pull straps. But somethin else I noticed is, they look like they are cut strait all the way around at the top, instead of havin the drop down point in the front and back, and higher sides where the pull straps go.
Interestin pair of boots, and would like to know the "why for's" in the different style???
I have a brother that's a bootmaker, and also an uncle (passed on now) I have two pairs of boots made by my uncle. And neither pair fit like I wanted. Best pair of boots I have are the worn out ones I wear now (Prison made).

thanks soapweed and jersey lilly
i have them made at beck's boots in amarillo
they have made two pair for me and i like them both
the first pair i have been wearing for 4 years now and had to have them resoled and a hole in the top patched where it wore on my sturrip learther
the fit great and they last realy not very expensive if you figure how long they last
lilly
the why's
i have the tops made round so they fit right at the top of my calf and just below my knee
that way when i'm in the brush or in the woods in your case and i'm wearing chicks or batwings the brush doesn't get down in my boots
as for the pull holes i just have them leave the front ones off so the brush can't go down in there
and i don't know about ya'll but i don't ever use the ones in the front anyways
thanks again
jerry

| Jerry H, I see that you wear your spur buckles on the outside of your boots. Some folks (me included) wear their's on the inside. You bring up some good points about why your boots are made the way they are, so I am curious about your reasoing for the spur buckles on the outside.

soapweed
i have lots of guys that wear their spur leathers on the inside but most of them ride with just the ball of their foot in the sturrip
growing up i wanted to be a saddle bronc rider so i always rode oxbow's with my foot run in there deep and the bukle tends to rub on my foot when it's on the inside
and even now i ride a 4 inch flat bottom sturrip i still put my foot in to the heeel some habits are hard to break
and if i remember correct my grandpa put my first ones on the outside
so right or wrong that's the way i have always done it
lilly
i always were my jeans shotgunned
my grandma swore that it helped keep chiggers and ticks out if you wore them on the inside and we had plenty of both growing up in north east texas
she also liked the way it kept the sweat from your horse off tour britches
and besides all that it just looks punchie
as for you chinks having the buckle in the front
that is a safty thing if you get that strap over the horn it gets real ugly if it doesn't break
my self i like mine to buckle in the front like yours
but when i have them made i just make shure there's a place in the belt that is thin enough that it will break if i get fouled
until later
jerry
