My cousin won a round at Houston. Here's a link to see the video although it's jerky on my computer. It's march 14th , just click on it and he's first up with an interview. He has his teeth in and looking nice. Laughing
His name is Bo Casper. Pretty good kid.

Must be the fact its cowboy Christmas-- they are all acting a little Scroogey Wink I thought the Judges were a little tight with points yesterday in Opheim too-- The kid got a 71 on the bareback-- good for second as a 72 won it...Got a 69 on a pretty mediocre bronc-- but the broncs really fired and leveled about 10- and no one beat that 69 and he won it...Was good for about $600 in his pocket--so he could pay his "sisters" off what he owed them for getting home....

Opheim must be the hospitality center of Montana-some parents took a roadtrip down there during the highschool finals at Wood Mountain. When they got back they looked like they'd been suitably entertained lol. That great big guy who picksup from there is a pretty handy guy. Congratulations to the kid-we don't have another rodeo to go to till midJuly.

If you remember- just about 1 year ago I posted how the Kid was going to retire from Barebacks (after riding them 20+ years), and just stick with the saddle broncs so he didn't take such a beating on his body-- gave his rigging to a high school kid (who is going to the Fallon Finals right now)...

Well some how he got way out in the lead in some southeastern Division by just riding saddle broncs-- so now he got a new rigging to ride a few barebacks so he can qualify for the All Around Saddle and extra year end money... Rolling Eyes

Then he heard Opheim and Hinsdale were throwing in added money for a roughstock average over the 2 rodeos- so he brought his riggin along with him as well as his saddle, hoping to make some extra money...

I didn't think he did too bad for the first bareback he'd been on in a year-- altho he needs a different cinch and latigos as he found this one won't pull tight enough or hold good on this rigging- which caused for a rather graceless exit after the whistle Laughing Laughing

Yep-- and Opheim is definitely a town of Hospitality...Besides everything else they were having an all class reunion (and many of the locals are married back and forth to folks from that Wood Mountain country)- and several of the folks had been partaking of the hospitality for several days already Wink Laughing

By half way thru the rodeo they had to close the concessions stands because they had such a big turnout that they had run out of hamurgers, hot dogs and all the food-- and they said the downtown cafe was out too---But they definitely didn't run out of beer, as they kept the trucks rolling in with a fresh supply for the water troughs.... Laughing

They still had 200 teamropers left to rope when we left at 6PM...

My Grandkids had a blast too-- Gabe was mad that I hadn't got him entered early enough in the mutton busting- so I guess I will have to remember next year...Altho his mother might not let him around "bad influence" Grandpa as much anymore- since he declared to her yesterday he is going to be a bull rider Wink Laughing Laughing

Kids and their cousins, that were visiting from Oregon, did get in the Rooster catching and the Pig Catching Scrambles...None got a rooster or a pig altho Gabe did get a handfull of feathers...
And this Grandpa was pooped too.....

Funniest thing is,when our kids were little the rides were a darn waste of money{so greg said}they weren't allowed to go on many. Well gramps bought 2 books of ride tickets and Waylon hit evey ride twice. Grampas are "softies"

I meant to say...good for your boy, gets in the blood and hard to get out of,speakin from the gal thats hubby joined the Senior pro circuite at 40 Confused Only a few years back into riding bares he realised those bones hurt WAY more then they did in his 20's and 30's
