Looks like Montana and the Dakotas could be in for a lively day and night too...I hate that when they all start talking about Supercell development and Supercell Thunderstorms....

-------------------------------------

.SHORT TERM...FOR NORTHEAST MONTANA...TODAY THROUGH MONDAY...
VERY ACTIVE WEATHER IN STORE FOR NORTHEASTERN MONTANA THIS
AFTERNOON INTO TONIGHT. A STRONG SHORTWAVE TROUGH AND A DEVELOPING
SURFACE LOW PRESSURE AREA WILL SERVE AS THE FOCUSING MECHANISM FOR
THE EVENT. SOUTHEAST WINDS AHEAD OF THE APPROACHING THROUGH WILL
USHER IN AMPLE MOISTURE...BUT WILL ALSO SERVE TO CAP MUCH OF THE
AREA FROM SURFACE BASED INSTABILITY. GIVEN THE AMOUNT OF MOISTURE ADVECTING
IN HAVE CONTINUED THE MENTION OF HEAVY RAINS IN THE FORECAST. WIND
SHEAR PROFILES IN THE ATMOSPHERE INDICATE THAT BOTH SEVERE HAIL
AND WINDS ARE POSSIBLE WITH STORMS.
STRONG INSTABILITY IN THE MID
LEVELS WILL ALSO EXIST...DRIVEN BY A COOLING ALOFT PROVIDED BY THE
SHORTWAVE. ANTICIPATE THAT SUPERCELL THUNDERSTORMS WILL FORM OVER
THE HIGHER TERRAIN OF WESTERN MONTANA AND MOVE EASTWARD ACROSS THE
CWA FEEDING OFF THE INSTABILITY IN THE MID LEVELS.

Yep-- thats the reason, all the oldtimers always said to not start haying until after the 4th of July-- get that crazy unstable June weather behind you...

Sister in Austin area just called-- and I forget how much rain they got in all-- but it sounds like its been a rain about every day....She had to e-mail me a picture of her new bull calf.... She's so proud of it because its her first purebred bull-I had to give her a bad time about it being the wrong color (Hereford Wink )...Next thing you know she'll be thinking I need to drive to Texas to get Hereford bulls from her Rolling Eyes

I was just looking at the radar again- and it looks like a good chunk of central SD is getting a storm right now...
Weather boys say parts of Meade County got around 4 inches and they have water over the roads....

Yet--There is a wicked storm right now going thru between Harlem- Malta (stretching up almost to Swift Current) that they have issued a tornado warning on-- and it appears to be heading east almost following the border-- they said that when it was in the Chinook area it produced golf ball size hail and 70mph winds--And it is building.. Shocked

You spoke too soon Big Muddy.....The sky north and west of us is black-- just talked to my daughter and they canceled the Demo Derby that was supposed to be at the Fairgrounds tonite...

This storm looks like if it keeps running right along the border- you could get some more moisture-- while the nasty stuff is aimed right at us Shocked

Now almost everything east of the Divide has tornado watchs in Montana- and I see they just added parts of Wyoming.....

That's a pretty active weather pattern, they got our chances pegged at 80% tonite, sure been a wet year so far,I would like to see some of the folks that are dry get rain,we have already got enough to make a bumper hay crop, tanks are all full and the creeks are running,I bet those peach farmers are watching this system,Hill country is full of peach farmers and there crop is just now coming in,they dont need high wind and hail..................good luck
PS tell your sister to email you a picture of that hereford, lets see what it looks like.
