Took a break in the hay season for a little jaunt to Crowsnest Mountain in southwest Alberta to celebrate my daughters 13th birthday. She chose to do a little mountaineering with some buddies as her party.

Quite a change from hay fields at the Hat, Elwapo. You weren't more than an hour from where I live, but I can't say as I've ever had any desire to go hike a mountain unless there is a fence over it that needs checking!

That hayfield will just have to wait. Looks like you had a good time with your girl. She'll never forget, nor will you.

I Agree

That's great elwapo...wonderful thing you did for your daughter. Probably the best birthday gift she could hope for. Shortgrass nailed it...

Great photos too! Did the girl in the shorts get cold before it was all said and done?

Thanks for sharing!

Cheers---

Good for you, elwapo. Nothing is more important then spending time with family. The hay will still be there when you get home. I try telling my husband that, but it seems to fall on deaf ears. I'd love a few days away from here, and now after seeing your pictures, I want to take off for the mountains, too.

The dress changed dramatically with the altitude, and the shorts were covered fairly quickly. We were some of the first on the mountain for the year and the difficulty was higher than the last time my wife and I did it in 1999. Unfortunately only two of the girls made the summit and my wife stayed with the others until we came back down to their level. It was a success for all though, with all of us pushing as hard as we could. It took about nine hours to go up and back. One of the best days of my life. I hope the girls will take this experience with them. My quote for the day was " it's just like Disneyland ........except it's real"

Very cool pictures. Exclamation

That country would make a mountain goat hunt his hole card.

All I can say is "WOW".
