are coming along really well.

His market steer, Wheezer MacGeezer (he's Angus, so had to have a Scottish name Wink ) weighed in at 900# on the dot this past Sunday, leaving 100# to go and 62 days to do it in. I think he's gonna make it!!!!! Very Happy

His cattle breeding heifer made 757# at the same weighing. She's a good "surrogate" mama for the doggie that Al's raising, and when "Junior" hollers, mama Bandi comes a-runnin! I think she'll make him another good cow when her time comes.

His Grand Champion heifer from last year, has been out with the bull for almost a month, now, so chances are good that she'll calve next year.

Her mama, Al's seed stock and starter cow, has a nice steer calf at her side, at 3 months, he's about 3/4 her height. He's a full brother to the calf Al sold last fall, who weighed in at 550# at 5.5 months of age. I think this one will do every bit that well, and better, since he got here a month earlier than last year's calf did.

I have a few new pics, but haven't had a spare minute to post them to photobucket, but maybe tomorrow when I have a day (sort of) off, I can get it done and post them to this thread.

Nice to be back amongst ya fine folks, and see how things in your neck of the woods are going! Nod

Ok, got picx loaded finally........I'd forgotten how much "fun" photobucket can be......... Rolling Eyes

We had our annual project tour and demonstration day on June 12......Al did his on his cattle breeding project, about what you have to do when you end up with an orphan calf......using Junior, of course.

Here he's showing the group how you mix the milk replacer:

And feeding the little squirt:

Bandi and Junior after the talk was over:

Tillie out in the field with the other bovines......she's the lightest colored one, and refused to come closer to the fence so I could get a "good" pic. lol

Blondie and her steer calf, the same day: (Al took this pic)

Wheezer MacGeezer, right after the weighing........900# of Angus bovine on the hoof:

Update: Wheezer weighed 943# yesterday, leaving 57# to go, 55 days to put it on.

Bandi actually lost a pound. She was getting pretty "runny" so I told Al he needed to cut her soybean and milo in half.......he thought I meant all her feed, so she didn't get a whole lot to eat last week. Fortunately, she's feeling much better, so cutting the protein helped.

Ranchy, for our three heifers we give them half a bucket of oats, 1/2 pound of 40:22 protien, and a sprinkling of corn morning and night. And they get all the hay they want.

Question How old is the heifer??

Bandi is just fixing to be a year old July 11, Wheezer will be a year old July 25.

Bandi was getting about 3/4 of a 3# coffee can of rolled milo and sweet feed, with about a cup of soybean meal mixed in, morning and night. Lately (since Al cut her feed in half) she was getting about 1/3 can of milo and sweet feed, and a half cup of soybean. She also gets some good quality alfalfa hay twice a day.

Wheezer is doing great on 3 cans of rolled corn (topped with a cup of Show Bloom and his Tri-Hist meds) in the morning, then about 3-4 cans of Hi Pro Beef Finisher topped with a cup of Show Bloom and a cup of soybean meal at night. He gets a little hay (whatever the rest of the bunch leave him, since he has to be shut up to eat, then turned out with the rest) but not a whole lot.
