Calgary Stampede showdown finals ?

I see soccer is being shown instead of the stampede finals on the CBC. It is a sad day up here this is the only rodeo event televised anymore up here, what are these idiots thinking? Extreme sports are big aka rodeo. I know the cbc wants to push soccer because they have a deal with toronto but what a friggin joke. I have sent a e-mail to CBC and invite others to do so. Watching the best cowboys and girls in the world compete for 100K 1 go winner take all. I have watched it faithfully for 15 years the only years i have missed is when i was at the stampede. Maybe it will be played as a taped event? Sad

A little late for this information but the Stampedes been shown on OLN all week.

Greg is beaming...Davey Shields jr walked away with the bareback championship,I'm happy Davey won but my next fav is Cimmeron Gerke...love watching him ride.

Too bad you missed it,it was a good week of rodeo and wagons.There was quite a bad wagon crash last night..... the bunny huggers are up in arms now cause lost a couple horses,didn't seem to matter Tyler Helmig was hurt pretty bad.

OLN doesn't help me i'm on hickvision 3 channels- Global,CTV,CBC. I saw the animal activists on the tv and heard about the crash. The last time i was at the stampede i was acosted by one of these misguided souls. When he told me it was cruel to animals i asked what did he think would be done for the chuck horses if they weren't racing, as this was a 2nd chance for most of these horses maybe he should just walk thru the stables and hit every horse in the head with a hammer as they would all be dead if they hadn't had a 2nd chance as a chuck horse. He didn't know what to say. Ever notice the animal activists have no direct conecction to agriculture. Misguided souls is the way i describe them yes animals should not be abused or mistreated but how many homeless people are suffering in canda in the heat maybe these animal activists should take in these poor unfortunate homeless people. Yeah that will happen. Rolling Eyes

We're pretty well in hicksville Alta,but we got a Statellite dish,mostly because of both the Calgary and NFR rodeos...gregs priorities.

Three years ago we were accostied at the CFR by Peta....they were only there the one day,Edmontons finest got them out of there pretty fast Laughing

Why is it there are so many Americans in the Calgary stampede? I dont think they should beable to win Canadian champion Title if they arent Canadian! Only one Canadian won, and i dont think that its fair the the americans to come in and more or less push the Canadian out of there own rodeo!! JMO!

What went down with kelly sutherland, i watched the replays rewinded it and watched it again and again. you cant really see what happened, You could see that tylers wagon wobbled then his horses went down and he went flying!! And then one of the outriders jumped in his wagon and stopped it. Wonder if that outrider was a bulldogger!?

The Stampede is the best of the best 100k no 2nd place that is what makes it great. I don't really care what country a winner is from as long as the are the best, be it Glen O'Neil, Rod hay, Dan Mortensen, Rope Meyers, Charmayne James. I don't care what rodeo you go to in the states try to beat some of the legends that have been at the stampede from Alley Cat , Transport, Grated cocnut, Airwolf or bulls like Double ot. They are the other part of the equation. No other rodeo can do it not even in Frontier days in cheyenne. So truly it is the greatest and richest day in rodeo in the world.

I missed it all because we had no power from sat. night till Monday A'M I had it all set up to tape while we were rodeoing. I've known Ray Mitsuing and Garry Gorst for years both are pretty good drivers I can't see Ray chopping his leaders down unless Kelly got out of lane from the sounds of things Tyler Helmig had no where to go. I guess Gary lost three horses when it was all said and done-hope tyler Helmig comes out of it alright. Wagon racing gives those old racehorses a lot longer life than they'd have otherwise.
