How can you libs that believe in right-to-carry still support a candidate like this? His theory that concealed carry will create more violence has been proven wrong in every state that has adopted shall-issue right-to-carry laws.

Yet...some of you that carry will still vote for him? Knowing that he would take that right away from you? How the hell can you do that? Say what?

Obama Comes Out Against Concealed Carry
By Amanda Carpenter
Thursday, April 3, 2008

Barack Obama is embracing anti-gun policies in the run-up to a Democratic presidential debate scheduled on the one-year anniversary of the Virginia Tech shootings.

“I am not in favor of concealed weapons,” Obama told the Pittsburgh Tribune. “I think that creates a potential atmosphere where more innocent people could (get shot during) altercations.”

These remarks break from Obama’s previous moderate rhetoric on gun control.

While campaigning in Idaho in February, Obama promised, “I have no intention of taking away folks’ guns.”

Obama elaborated later that month in a political forum sponsored by ABC News and the Politico. He said: “I think it's important for us to recognize that we've got a tradition of handgun ownership and gun ownership generally. And a lot of law-abiding citizens use it for hunting, for sportsmanship, and for protecting their families. We also have a violence on the streets that is the result of illegal handgun usage. And so I think there is nothing wrong with a community saying we are going to take those illegal handguns off the streets. And cracking down on the various loopholes that exist in terms of background checks for children, the mentally ill. We can have reasonable, thoughtful gun control measure that I think respects the Second Amendment and people's traditions."

Obama’s tough talk on gun control may be prompted by Philadelphia-based Democratic leaders who are pressuring Clinton and Obama to adopt harder stances on gun control. This issue is expected to come up in ABC News’ Democratic debate on April 16 in Philadelphia. 32 people were shot to death on the campus of Virginia Tech by Seung-Hui Cho April 16, 2007.

Obama’s new hardline liberal position differs from his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton and GOP candidate John McCain, who both are for concealed-carry.

The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) said in a statement Obama should apologize and revise his stance. “Barack Obama ignorantly believes that legally-armed Americans are as reckless and irresponsible as the criminals with whom his political sympathies evidently law,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “He has been insisting for months he supports the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms, but here he is now campaigning in Pennsylvania, stating essentially he would prefers Americans not exercise that right.”

I'm not surprised. He claims to be pro Second Amendment, but if you look at his record he's far from it. He's a take it away an inch at a time kind of guy. He doesn't think you need a clip that holds more than a few rounds. He doesn't think you should be able to carry concealed. All the while he claims to be pro gun, he's also in favor of "thoughtful and reasonable" gun control. Having respect for the Second Amendment and people's traditions as he is claiming to will blow out the window when push comes to shove. He's trying to work both ends against the middle. Not lose the gun grabber element while trying to convince gun owners that he's their buddy too. Does anybody else remember John Kerry in his duck hunting costume?

he's right some one could get shot.. a mugger .. a bank robber.. a unbalanced kid trying to shoot others.. and any wacko that whips out a gun thinking they have the ability to create mayhem could get shot by a law abiding citizen with a concealed gun...

but to think they are innocent, only a liberal lawyer could think that Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Confused

Well he has proven he is not a defender of the Constitution.

I can not understand how a man running for President of the United States can be so ignorant................and to think people support this man.

He's headed for a nosedive. By election time the only ones that'll be voting for him will be the truly ignorant socialists and the Islamofascist supporters. Damn....he just might win.

Nothing out of you pro-Second Amendment libs? Aren't some of you NRA members? Do any of you care about this issue?

I believe that the right to protect our families, our property and ourselves is the most fundamental right that we have. What good are the other rights if we can't protect ourselves? I really wanted an honest answer from you, so I'll repeat myself:

I say if you want to carry a gun wear it on your hip for all the world to see. Only a coward would want to hide a gun.

Being for or against something as a candidate or as a President does not mean you can disregard Congress when establishing laws (unless you are dubya and Cheney). The fact that he is from Chicago makes his position understandable. That is where the only folks with short guns are the gangsters that infest his constituency neighborhoods. He will back away from this issue once he secures the nomination...........you will hear about as much about this during an Obama administration as you have about Roe v Wade in the current one.

Just because someone says something does not make it true, TExAN baby!!

I could say I'm a 6'1" blonde 38DD...don't make it so!!!

The NRA is WAY WAY too big and powerful to let anything like this even get close to happening.

I Agree

I have no problem with people having guns legally, but I prefer to know they have them. Why would you wanna hide you have a gun unless you are up to no good?
