Election 2008: Montana Presidential Election
Montana: McCain 48% Obama 43%
Thursday, April 10, 2008
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in Montana shows John McCain leading Barack Obama 48% to 43%. However, he enjoys a much more comfortable lead over Hillary Clinton, 54% to 36%.
It would be truly stunning if Obama could turn Montana into a competitive state this November. George W. Bush won Montana’s 3 Electoral College Votes by twenty percentage points in 2004 and by twenty-five points four years earlier. Even Bob Dole managed to win Montana, albeit by a narrow 44% to 41% margin (Ross Perot picked up 14% of the vote).
The last Democrat to win Montana was Bill Clinton in 1992. He did so with 38% of the vote. The first President Bush got 35% of the Montana vote while Ross Perot picked up 26%. |

I will be very proud if Montana can see through the duping by Obama and Hillary and go with McCain this fall.
And you know what--I think that is exactly what is going to happen.
Wyoming as well and probably ND and SD...

Yep-- but the pollsters are saying it could end up being very close if Obama is the Dem candidate- and daily as corn prices (which Montana has little of) and gas prices go up- and cattle prices and futures look sadder- the more I hear against GW's energy policy and McCains apparent backslapping and mirroring of that policy.....
And now it appears a good chance that Barr will get the Libertarian nomination- and Ron Paul (who carried Montana well) will endorse and give some of his large coffers of campaign money...And Montana is one of the states where the Libertarian Party is already recognized on the ballot.....
May get interesting before its over....

McCain is viewed favorably by 56% of Montana voters, Obama by 54%, and Clinton by 42%.
Obama might get some help from the state’s Democratic Governor, Brian Schweitzer—61% of the state’s voters say he is doing a good or an excellent job. Just 14% rate his work as poor.
McCain, on the other hand, is likely to get little help from the President. Despite winning 59% of the vote in Montana less than four years ago, George W. Bush now earns good or excellent ratings from just 38% of the state’s voters. Forty-seven percent (47%) say he is doing a poor job. |

| What exactly is a "Purple State"? Does that mean that it's full of whiners and bitchers?

Why are you so proud of Switzer, OT?
And Montana isn't very wise. No sales tax for one thing.
They want all the rich people and they don't have to pay for what they
get...instead taxes are on the back of the property owner in this state.
Montana is BEHIND the times!!
All the adjoining states know that Montana is and has always been
anti-business. When we moved to W. Montana everyone told us that the government wanted one National Park from Yellowstone to Glacier. We thought it was funny at the time, well, it isn't one bit funny...they cater to the RICH...on the backs of the property owners. I'm fed up with Montana politics.
So, I would be really proud if they back McCain. And I do think it's gonna happen.
Not that I wouldn't rather see Ron Paul on the ballot, or Mitt Romney...but that ain't gonna happen. So McCain it is...
