Michelle Obama quote:

“The truth is, most Americans don’t want much. Folks don’t want the whole pie. Most Americans feel blessed to thrive just a little bit. But that’s out of reach for them.” The truth is, in order to get things like universal health care and revamped education system, then someone is going to have to give up a piece of their pie so someone else can have more.”

We already have a health care program for underprivileged children of parents who earn up to $70,000.00 per year. Plus Medicare, Medicaid, WIC, and others. Rolling Eyes

As far as education goes.....all children have the opportunity to get a free education.

For me personally, I don't want a piece of somebody else's pie. I want to make my own. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Do you also believe that everyone should make the same salary? Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

"The truth is, most Americans don’t want much. Folks don’t want the whole pie. Most Americans feel blessed to thrive just a little bit. "

This coming from a woman who's salary is 10 times the average worker's and who got a substantial raise coincidentally immediately after her husband secured a large earmark for her employer. Arrogant, hypocratic elitism at it's finest.

"Let them eat cake".

Sounds like a very good wife who agrees with everything her husband is about.

Mrs. Greg, I support feeding children, educating them, and keeping them healthy. My problem lies with the deadbeat adults who want to sponge off of society like ticks on a dog's back. Most of them want the government to steal for them so that all they have to do is sit at home and receive a check. This country needs a good flea bath.

I agree with the "deadbeat" adults but I think if all children are givin the same opportunity then maybe those children of the "deadbeats"{man I hate that word}may rise above thier upbringing. The children really are the victims.

I also "believe" that very few on welfare are deadbeats, most are single mothers that because of the lack of education and the high cost of childcare can't get out of that rut.

Mrs. Greg, we are all compassionate towards children and think that they always get the raw end of the deal. But society cannot be called upon to take care of kids born to deadbeats. That is the full responsibility of the parents.

If they cannot take care of them, they shouldn't bear children at all.

We have tried all the welfare programs that taxpayer money can buy. Our social programs are breaking the bank. It simply doesn't work. Those deadbeat parents are sitting around the trough like welfare brood mares waiting for the handouts that Michelle Obama is speaking of.

Only personal responsibility will fix it.

Would you prefer the word losers? Wink Laughing

What type of lack of education are you talking about? They got in that position because they did not go to college? Or quit H.S.? Many single moms I know of were in the process of getting an education but chose to open their legs instead of their books. The education was there for them they chose to ignore it. They were sitting in the same class along beside the girl that did not get pregnant and did not become a single mom.

Disclaimer: All single moms are not a result of teen pregnancies I realize this.
