Been pretty busy around here.
Husband and friends rounded up our pairs today for preg testing, weaning, weighting and shipping.
I missed it, I was at an emergency medical training seminar til Sunday afternoon.

I did get a stretch of fence fixed, house some what cleaned Rolling Eyes , dinner made for the crew today (actually made it last night), made some new friends and learned new things.

Finished haying, building new moose-proof stackyards, shipped some cull cows, have to yard some bales yet, gathering off the range.

Fixing fence, moved cows back to where they were supposed to be, repaired water tank on BLM, finished cutting 3rd cut alfalfa, worked on brakes on the grain trailer, got my old Gleaner combine read to roll this coming week, and replaced the starter on my pickup.

I'm sure I'd be bored stiff if I had any other job. Smile

Some fence repair and moving- tearing down boards from an old chicken coop to reuse for windbreak- yesterday I trailed 40 pairs and some yearlings home from the community pasture...It was about 8 miles and got up to near 80 degrees, but there was a nice breeze and I started at sunrise and was done by noon so they moved pretty good..

Me? Not much. The guys? Finishing up baling, helping a good friend finish up combining, thinking about starting to spray, thinking about shipping calves, thinking about cleaning corrals, thinking about hauling bales. We're real good at thinking about!

I've helped the neighbours sort steers and heifers off to sell, moved their cows around in different pastures, and yesterday helped them gather and preg test 270 cows. It's a lot of fun being able to help a good neighbour, and I know when the time comes to gather ours, they'll be coming this way.
Other than that, just checking cows, and doing things with the kids.

Canning tomatoes and digging potatoes. Finally. (I just came to the computer to check when the rain is supposed to get here, but of course had to check in. Wink )Last market garden sale of the year was yesterday so now I can get to doing some preserving for us instead of Joe Public. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy It's been a good year. Looking forward to doing it again next year.

Hubby is out racing the rain to get the last 20 acres of second cut alfalfa baled. We're supposed to get an inch of rain tonight. Shocked Shocked Then we need to clean some pens to wean calves because we've got a hundred pairs coming home on Thursday.

Moving pairs from smaller pastures to the bigger ones. Cut runways in grazing corn with discbine for stringing hot wire. Parked discbine for the season and baled last of second cut. Still bales to haul and corrals to clean. Another 50 snowfree days would be nice Rolling Eyes smells a lot like fall is in the air Smile
