That looks like it hurt like heck. You were lucky it wasn't worst.

Take care and get well soon.

Sorry to hear about your accident. It looks like that will be a bit of an inconvenience for a time. Hope you can still get your calves rounded up and shipped off. Prayers to the Great Physician who heals all our "diseases" are going up for you! A good reminder that even the simple, everyday jobs can be dangerous. Take care!

Thanks to all of you for the kind words. Brady, who helped us during calving, had a cute saying: "I've been by myself a lot but have never been short-handed or lonesome." With this recent goof-up, I feel both "short-handed" and "lonesome" for my missing finger. Smile Oh well, the Good Lord has always in the past pulled me through my predicaments, and He will do the same now. Life is still good. Smile

Jersey Lilly, the pumpjack is now in town at my welder son's shop to get a shield put in place so this doesn't happen again. At the next opportunity, I will try to take a picture of the outfit.

Looks bad Soap. When it is healed you might have a keyboard issue. When typing d's you might hit the c and you might not be able to reach the e. Might need a custom keyboard built. I hope it heals fast and you don't stick any other fingers where they don't belong. In the mean time it will be like an override button. You can stub your toe and the finger will still have most of the pain. Wink

I can't beleive you had the presence of mind to whip out your camera and take a picture of it... with one hand no doubt!

My sister in law lost the first bone of her right index finger to a wool machine. When she yanked back her hand at the first hint of it being trapped she exclaimed " Man that was close" and then she saw her finger missing the end of the digit. It was a disappointing surprise to say the least.
It healed well but because she held it up toward her body while it was healing to offset the throbbing when she held it low, she developed a frozen shoulder that took about 2 years to recover from. Snowball affect.

I know that won't happen to you. Happy healing!

I really think you can. They just slip on like one finger off a rubber glove. Or kinda like those deals folks use that grip paper. Can't think what they are called....but I do think they make em for folks that type.

As I hit the submit button I remembered where I'd heard that. A friend of mine that ropes got one of her fingers yanked off in a ropin incident. She got the lil prosthetic thing so she could still use the keyboard without a problem......

Hi There Soap! You well know that I am a squeamish lady. You'll not catch me putting a worm on a hook. I hate stepping in a pile of doo doo ESPECIALLY in heels! However, my curiosity won out. Oh my gosh it looks just dreadful, but after visiting last night I know you are in fine spirits. You have always handled negative situations with wit, determination and a positive attitude. I am glad for the many positives that you pointed out to me. It will take awhile to heal, but life is just exciting with 9 fingers as with 10! Luv Ya!
