Want to lose 15 pounds in two weeks-get up at 6'30 A'M-drink a pot of coffee-skip breakfast-fence in the sandhills till 1 or 2 P'M then eat a bologna sandwich-then keep fencing till dark lol. I'm not looking quite like a greyhound yet more like a semiretired blue heeler!!!!

Pictures???? Blue heeler suits you well actually, or maybe red heeler. Somewhat short in the leg, slightly short-coupled, but with plenty of bite to get the point across. Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

I figured I should learn how to fence right before I turned 50 lol. It's pretty sweet cattle country-I'd like to get some yearlings down there-no wonder they call it Sweetgrass.

N R, And here i thought most guys in thier 50's where trying to wean themselves off the fencing, and pass it on to the next generation of fencers.I don't turn fifty for another twelve years,by then my two daughters should be trained up well on fence work,if they don't make a mad dash for the city. Smile

I like building fence-I don't like fixing it much lol. The PFRA has some different ways of building things that's for sure. The funniest was the first day when their man couldn't find the fenceline lol.

We built 1.5 miles of new fence and pounded posts on another 3 miles and My 24yr old daughter drove the tractor I pounded post and my 86 yr old father pounded staples. Guess it never ends. By the way dad really likes walking. Some of the fence was rebuilt by him and I plus a couple of others 40 years ago.

BMR, I'll feel pretty lucky if i can continue to be on a piece of ground and doing this work when i'm your dads age, most of the old timers around here could probably still work the pants of thier younger counterparts, good work ethic,i'm constantly amazed at the energy some of these fellows still throw at getting a project done.Sounds like a good bit a work you guys put in on that fence. And your daughters still around the ranch at 24.

NR, when PFRA does braces for corners and gates, are they still digging trenches and setting them in place with a heavy cross-member on the bottom, like an upside-down tee? That's how we had to do all of 'em the last time I worked out there east and south of Kerrobert. All of their wraps had to have the barbs removed too, or they'd make you unwind it and do it over.

No they didn't make us put in deadmen-instead we pounded in telephone poles 8 feet long-they were heavy suckers-I can't see them moving anytime soon. Yeah you have to do their fancy wrap on the ends. We had to build two braces at right angles to a line fence that have gates coming of them so they aren't bracing anything lol.

Deadmen, that's the word I was trying to remember, but couldn't.
