Another huge McCain/Palin/Vision falsehood/LIE......

The following statement was made by Sarah Palin on October 2, 2008 during the vice presidential debate. It is a statement that has been repeatedly made in McCain ads and by McCain himself (McCain gave the actual number as "23 million small businesses" that would be hurt):
"But when you talk about Barack's plan to tax increase affecting only those making $250,000 a year or more, you're forgetting millions of small businesses that are going to fit into that category. So they're going to be the ones paying higher taxes thus resulting in fewer jobs being created and less productivity."
----------------------------------------------------------
The Truth About Obama's Small Business Tax Plan
The overwhelming majority of small-business owners would see no increase, and in fact, sole proprietors filing on personal tax returns might even seen a decrease in taxes; and
Obama's tax plan proposes to raise rates on couples making more than $250,000 or singles earning more than $200,000 per year. Most small business owners do not earn enough to be affected by any tax increases.
According to the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center, "several hundred thousand small business owners, at most, would have incomes high enough to be affected by the higher rates on income, capital gains and dividends that Obama proposes." That is a far cry from 23 million small business owners.

Urban-Brookings is a partisan Democrat think tank.
Come on OT - if you are going to give us biased BS tell us it is biased BS.
It also depends on how they define "earned" in a new tax bill that comes along.

How many small business make $250,000 a year????
This was the amount Obama gave for small business as well.
I know one small business who makes $250,000 a year He is NOT rich if he has any more taxes he will slow down, turn his truck in and get a company truck. $200,000 will not be going back into the economy.
So much for redistrubuting wealth from the bottom up.

Well said and the moral of the story is, capital goes where it is treated well and it often takes the path of least resistance.

You do know that there is a difference between NET income and GROSS income. If he is netting 250,000 a year driving truck he must be smuggling some pretty good stuff in from Mexico.

The $250,000.00 number is irrelevant...to pay for his middle class tax cut, Obama is going to tax the rich and businesses.
The rich will hold on to their money/investments...revenue from capital gains will go down. They can hire lawyers to protect their money.
Businesses will pass their increased taxes on to consumers, when they can. When they can't or that isn't enough, they close their doors and increase unemployment.
The economy will still be in a fragile state if Obama is elected...his stated policies will send it into a downward spiral and we will look back on today as being the 'good ole days'.
Did I mention that when Obama lets the Bush tax cuts expire, it will negate his middle class tax cut anyway? And do any of you remember the last Democrat President that promised us a middle class tax cut? Did Clinton follow through with it???? What makes you think Obama will?????

I've never heard Obama specify if it's "net income" or "gross income". Why not???

Does anyone believe big business will simply pay increased taxes out of their profits without trying to pass that cost on to their customers???????
