You Canadians must be a bunch of racists. There's clearly only one reason to make voters show ID. And that reason is to create an obstacle to voting for minority, poor and elderly voters. How could you let something like that become law?

What the hell does showing an ID have to do with race?? I can pretty much look at you and get a general idea of your race.....and sometimes your sex. lolol.....Nobody is offended when they have to show an ID to buy cigs. or liquor, cash a check or even write a check. What's the big deal about showing it to an election judge???? That's no obstacle. It's actually an encouragement if you're serious at all about having an honest election.

Well, I'm glad that you asked. It's pretty simple, actually. Oldtimer's "chosen champion" thinks that it's racist and that should be good enough for all of us:
"Acorn has been in the lead in opposing voter ID laws and other efforts to ensure ballot integrity. Acorn has been implicated in voter fraud and bogus registration schemes in Ohio and at least 13 other states. Acorn staffers will presumably be out registering voters again this year.
"Obama also opposes voter ID laws. He believes they disenfranchise voters. Last year, Obama put a hold on the nomination of Hans von Spakovsky for a seat on the Federal Election Commission. It seems von Spakovsky, as an official in the Justice Department, had supported a Georgia photo ID law. Acorn espouses the leftist view that voter ID laws are racist."

Does that answer your question? The Obama followers say it's racist and that's good enough. And if it's racist to require voters to show ID in the U.S., then it should also be racist for them to require it in Canada. Right?
Personally, I think that if a guy has to show ID, I-9, SS card, etc. just to get a freakin' JOB so he can pay taxes, it shouldn't be any problem for some deadbeat to show an ID to vote.
