This is making news out our way! Clinton is a hundred and fifty miles north of here up near Ogden , Utah. Whoever did this ought to get the same or worse done to them! Mad What is wrong with people to do something like this? Shocked

CLINTON -- Clinton police are trying to figure out who beat a race horse so badly she will never race again.

The 2-year-old filly, named "Nightmare Illusion", was found by trainers Wednesday morning at a stable near 1300 North and 2400 West. Investigators say her right front leg and knee appeared to have been the primary targets of abuse.

A tendon by Nightmare Illusion's hoof was severed in the attack "That tendon underneath by the hoof had been damaged to where that horse won't be able to run anymore," said Clinton police Lt. Dave Valentine.

Signs of abuse were also found on the horse's head and behind.

"The back of the horse had been hit with a hook," Valentine said. "You can see on its head, above its eyelids, were it had been run into cement walls."

Nightmare Illusion's owner, Giovanni Ortiz, said the attack has angered him to the point he's nearly speechless.

"Her leg is all bandaged up, and she hops on three legs, basically. She doesn't use that leg," Ortiz said.

Police don't have a motive, but both investigators and the owner believe whoever attacked the horse knew the injuries would end the filly's career.

"I really don't know who would do that and why they would do it," Ortiz said.

The horse was prepping to race in Idaho this summer.

Knowing the little I know about the track this makes a person ask a few questions........ who owed who money..........who didn't want this horse to beat their's in a race..............how big was the insurance policy.

The track is full of dirty shenanigans.
