I don't want Gcreekrch getting so bored he starts wrestling cougars or bears again so I've got a couple of photos to share from my old farms in Scotland. Can you guess what these two round things are and what their purpose was?
The round thing is on the middle left here - extra points if you can spot the nearest sheep. Very Happy The grass is so green it's hurting my snow accustomed eyes.

And for the second one;

Hey McLeod. Get offa Ma ewe!!!

Found the sheep. Is that the foundation remains of an old castle?

the round building in the second picture is for putting H in and telling him to pee in the corner. Wink

The first pic is the remains of Roman fortifications. Do I get a cookie for being right?

the rock wall, castle foundation, roman fortifications is the fence...

fairly common in Scotland.. that and hedge rows.. many have been there for hundreds of years..

as for the round roof?? i think the correct answer was given already...

but I'll stick with a porta-lou.. with a modern water closet.. Laughing

OK folks so you all spotted the sheep Very Happy

The round roof isn't a dovecot - what size of doves do you guys have? Shocked Shocked The round building was about 25 foot diameter, 8 foot to the top of the walls with the highest point of the roof being about 20 feet high.

No cookie cowpuncher - you're at least a thousand years out Shocked Wink - besides the Romans usually built in squares or rectangles.

some dovecots or doocots are pretty big, from pictures I've seen, and the one I have actually seen in person, in Alberta

I can't find a picture of the Dovecot in Barrhead, AB. (I think that's where I saw it)
