Wonder if the stock's made of Maple? Appears to be. Either that or Birch. Much harder wood than Walnut.
I see the date "1972" on the right side just above the trigger, is that when he had the stock made?
Nice work of art. Very nice......................

| I was thinking curly maple or birch because of the wave in the grain. Colour leans toward birch.

| I don't have any idea what kind of wood it is made off. I am extremely ignorant when it comes to different types of trees. Growing up in the Sandhills the only trees I had ever seen were cotton wood and cedars, the cedars are planted. I have no idea what either one looks like when cut for lumber, other than good cedar has a red color.

| H that is one hell of an elk. I would probably tell the story wrong, but I am sure that that is the only elk JF has ever shot. I will see if I can get him to post a picture or send me one so that I can post it for him. |
You menetioned JF. Is that the JF that occasionally posts here?
If it is I had the privileged to meet his Dad when he stopped in with Bob M on their way home from Rockglen SK.

I would say that is probably correct. I know Bob is related.
