I would like to see this study repeated with Red Angus and perhaps some other British Breeds like Shorthorn, South Devon, Welsh Black etc.
Another idea is to use Hereford Bulls on continental cross cows like Charolais or Simmental. The Angus people have had this market pretty much to themselves. I have seen Hereford work well in these situations as long as the right bull was selected.
What do you Hereford breeders think?

See the post about Holden's sale today! Selling bulls at prices like they got must mean Hereford bull are breeding cows somewhere and apparently there's money in it! Very Happy The H in my name is because my name is Holden but those guys don't claim me! Wink

Free lunches are hard to come by in this business except at bull sales as Soapweed mentioned but the commercial cow-calf operator who doesn't accept the heterosis free lunch is looking a gift cow in the mouth. Smile Smile Smile
