Hi Folks-

My RSS feed of the Bull Session Forums (which I use to keep up with everyone...) stopped working as of Monday evening. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?

Very Happy Well, you fixed it anyway; it's working now. Very Happy

The RSS feed basically takes all the new posts on the bulletin board and turns them into one compilation (organized chronologically) of the new posts. Most blogs and online sources that provide regular and multiple updates to their sites (news, bulletin boards, etc.) will use a feed to make new postings available to readers. You "subscribe" to a site's feed using a piece of software called a Feed Reader (I use Google Reader, which is free, online, and runs through the regular web browser), which I then use to group and read the feeds I follow from different sites, in one single handy-dandy little window. Kind of like a getting an email for each post, but they are grouped by source and won't clutter your email inbox.

On Ranchers.net, this allows me to read all the new posts in one spot rather than going into each Forum and checking every subject individually for new posts. And I see only postings I haven't read yet, and can then click back to that particular conversation on the Ranchers site if I want to see the stream of related posts in one spot.

Piece of cake Laughing

Get yourself set up with a Google user account (you can set it up using an existing email address, or get a new -- free -- Gmail account). Once you're in, go to Google reader. Press the Add a Subscription button, and type in Ranchers.net. The reader will find the feed source for the Forums and you're good to go.

For blogs and stuff, you normally want to go to the Feed page (will usually have an icon like the one shown at this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS and use that as the page to which you will subscribe with the reader.

Good luck and happy reading Very Happy
