That's Boarder Collies for you - That and Yapping all the time if you don't let the out if you working other dogs.

At the home place I would let the sheep out in the Alfalfa (30 Acres) in the Late Fall - My dogs ALL knew the "Property Lines" I could leave one on the Porch - I the sheep got to close to a PL they would Center Field Them.

My Dogs were by my side 24/7 so they could work if Need-be!

24/7 - We did not have kids around for many years before V_Key - When we brought her home as a baby, my Dog 'Melody' (on her own) stopped sleeping on the floor at my side and started sleeping under V_Key's Bassinet.
But my dogs are Aussie's - - Old Line Aussie's - -

OldDog/NewTricks, sounds like you had one of the good Aussies and you did a great job with her.

Did your Aussie ever need any training as regards the property lines as a pup. If you had her with you 24/7 probably not. 24/7 is the best way to get a young dog bonded with you as the center of their world.

Nothing like having a helpful dog.

Very Happy

At the time I was a Aussie Breeder and had several of them - every AM I would Walk or ride the the Home Ranch (25 acres) Property Line and would call any dog that crossed the line back - soon all my dog knew where that line was...

Yes - my aussie's take some training to learn Down and Directions - about 30 minutes - the rest was EYE and Want-to

Old Line Aussies:
I have had Aussie's for 72 years - Some where I have family Photo with an Aussie Dater 1929

Some Hangin Trees are really odd- they are wired different and act skittish for no reason
But they seem to get over it with work

If you get a good one and get it going- they are great
The others make you want to pull your hair out.
There doesn't seem to be much middle ground with them.

Some of the best ones started being

"skiddish from the start ,sneaky and cowering."

After you get that past that they are working machines with no nerves at all.

They are odd if you are used to Border Collies
