I thought I would bring you up to date on the ponies progress.

This is Betty working for her oats. We were cleaning the barn. After I unloaded at the outside pile, she would pull me back to the barn to reload.

This is Veronica on my new sleigh.

Since the horefrost was so pretty this afternoon I decided to get our daughter to take some pictures of Veronica and me. She posed so nice she never moved once while the pictures were being taken.

After we got back from taking pictures the neighbor was down to help hook the two ponies together for the first time. I was finally able to find a set of harness that fit the two. I was telling a friend from the States about the ponies and the problem I was having finding a harness to fit and she said she might be able to help. It turned out her late husband had ponies and had two sets of harness for them. a Really fancy set and a work set. I drove down to her place and the son fixed me up with what I needed to get the ponies going. This was his work harness.

Now I just need to get a pole on the bobsled and we will be away for another course of training. It has been great fun.

I went down to the welding shop in Plentywood and told them what I wanted and they welding the steel frame. Then I brought it home and painted it and added the oak boards and padded seats. It also has an axle with 15 inch car tires that bolts on for warm weather driving. The shafts move while it is a sled but when the tires are on the shafts ( or pole when driving the team) lock into place with big turnbuckets. So with one rig I have a sleigh for one or two ponies OR a cart that works for one or two ponies for year around fun with only minutes of change over time.

I thought V would be the harder one as she was a bit scare when we got her but she is the one that takes to things without much trouble. B is friendlier but she is taking a bit more time to get use to new things but I think in time she will be a good strong puller too. They are both great to work with.

When my friend said her husband had two sets of harness one show and one working, I thought this one was the show harness but I was wrong the other one has even more bling. The son told me if I was going to put the ponies in a parade I could come borrow the show set Wink

Looking great Tam, I wish you many more hour's of enjoyment driving your ponies, you ought to be aware though it can become a way of life!
Asked an old neighbor a few year's ago why he was keeping his team in the barn he looked at me kinda funny and replied " well to clean the barn with, of course!" Shocked Laughing
