I have one, but I don't want to make him stop working, just go from tail to heels.

when you use the collar every time he goes to bite the tail he will soon be cured from going up at all. Seen people train to bite heels under solid gate or fence in crowding pen.

Get a "Head Dog"
You can teach a "Head Dog" to Heel but you can seldom teach a Heel Dog to Head...
Heel Dog are Drive Dog!
Head Dog are Herd Dogs!

I used Heelers in the Feed Lot - I'd set ALL the gates and a Heeler world take the cattle from one pen to another...

My Head Dogs would gather the stock and BRING it to me...

HUNTING:
My HEEL DOGs would just drive the Game OUT of the country.
I've has Head Dog almost run me over with Game.
