we did this and took around the sales ring when Tenny sold her last 4-H steer a few years back it was what she had done in 10 years of 4-H and 4 years of FFA, thing was we heard more negative comments then poss. We just wanted to fire up the young kids and show them what they could do.... instead we heard parents tell thier kids they never get a purple ribbion

Too bad the parents have to spoil it for the kids, but so many
times they do. One year Mr. FH had a broken ankle and he sat
and watched the Fat Stock Sale. He said the parents faces went
from wide (smiling) to narrow (frowning) based on what the
kids did in the ring. Why can't they just let kids enjoy themselves?
It's the parents that are competitive...the kids are just wanting
to enjoy themselves~especially when they are the younger ones.
By the time they are older, the parents attitude has more or less
rubbed off. Anyway, Jody, that was too bad. Congrats to your
daughter for her many successes in 4H. I'm sure it will put her
in good stead in her years to come. Thanks for sharing that
picture.
