You have to wonder about her, taking care of her husband for years and getting a fatal illness herself after his death? Coincidence? Immune system on high gear all those years she had to be strong for him, relaxing and her being attacked by all manner of things? I was just corresponding with one of the CJD families. Some (including ours) have suffered a number of losses and tragedies one after the other. It's odd how life can go on for years uneventfully nearly and then the roof can fall in.

isn't it amazing at what years of worry, stress, wearing yourself down and taking care of someone else and letting your own health slide in the meantime can do to you?? How very sad!!! Sad

She was woman with tremendous courage. I knew she was ill, but this was so unexpected. Hopefully, she is in a much better place.

Those poor kids. Gosh, you just don't know why things happen as they do.

unfortunately, for those of us who do not fall into the "high risk groups", we seldom are given the proper screenings for cancer...if ms reeve had not demanded a chest x-ray, she may never have known!! We will be having a "health fair" at our little hospital this month and I am not very happy with the "screening tools" they are offering at a discount price....labs include cbc, metabolic panel and thyroid exam..yet the men are also offered a very simple blood draw to detect prostate cancer (psa) and there is nothing being offered the women!! Confused Even if you are not under the "high risk group", I beg of each of you to demand a FULL physical at least every 2 years...every year if you are over 45!! It may save your life! If you do not like the results, demand a second opinion or seek out a new doctor/provider!!

Yes, BUT, how many of us have bothered to correct the health risks we've
been told about by the doctor the LAST time we spoke with doc?

I was thinking last week how stupid I've been to let the pounds creep up knowing how many friends have had to have hip and knee surgery due to the extra wear and tear of toting their extra weight around and knowing arthritis runs in our family. And then there is my cholesterol level which I've been ignoring. And I've put off a glaucoma test and forgot about the asprin a day... Rolling Eyes

A person feels like they should go to the doctor and have everything checked. But be very careful to what the doctor writes on your records, because this information gives the insurance company reasons to put writers on you. We are in the process of lowering out health insurance payments. IN doing so we wanted to up our deductable. The insurance company then came back and put writers on Roscoe and I. ONe writer on Roscoe he had never seeked medical advice on. Sooooooo be very careful when going to the doctor........
