Here while back I posted a picture of a Neighbor Ranchers new house, the one that is 10,000 square feet. Well this evenin, he invited us up to the house, it's not quite finished, but he's hopin to move in, in a couple weeks.
I asked if I could take a few pictures. Even tho it's huge, and way more than I'd ever care to have in a house, the man did some really neat things in there.

This is his front door, I just love the Texas stars.

This is the dinin room/ ball room, and yes that's a pipe organ you see on the back wall. The floors throughout the house are all made of either hog pecan, white oak, or black walnut, this one in the dinin room is a patchwork of all three woods, all of which were trees that were cut on his property, alot of the woodwork throughout the house is also wood that came from his place, the star above the front door is part of that wood. I really was impressed with the work that was done on this home, and how it was put together, and that it actually "means" something. Some things were recycled from older homes that are in various places on his properties, from old plank sidin that was reused in the breakfast nook on the walls, all of it, was really really neat.

Ok this is a close up of the floor in that dinin room, it's not finished yet, they are still sanding on it, but it won't be stained, just a clear finish. Awsome wood.

The woodwork around the pipe organ is just like in my folks' house, which is a 1915 Craftsman. I love that "old" look. Smile

You aint kiddin, while we were there, Lil Lilly piped up and asked him if they could have thier prom there. Bless her heart she aint skeered to ask anyone anything. She kinda laughed, and said...you got three years to decide........

Even tho it's not finished, and most of the floors havent got the finish on em, I still felt like a bull in a china closet. There wasn't anything to break or knock over. It was just the magnitude of the whole thing.

After talkin to him about the floors, Mr Lilly and I were talkin about all the hog pecan wood that we've cut for firewood over the years, and in general just clearin out trees here and there for more pasture etc...we just pushed it up in a pile with the dozer and burnt it. Not realizing what beautiful lumber it would make. Hog pecan trees grow all along the creeks around here, the pecans they make are bitter, only thing that will eat em are the hogs I guess, hence the name. But I want to cut a good size one down, and let dad n law cut it into lumber on the sawmill and see what it looks like, I don't plan to put wood floors in my house, but it would make some awful perdy cabinets of some sort or another........oh I see the beginnins of a honey do list Laughing Laughing Laughing
