LOVE the trees surrounding your place, JB!!!!! Makes for a nice windbreak when the spring and summer come around!!! and about the gates....don't be giving any other hubbies around here any ideas, ya hear??? Wink Wink

Big ones behind the house are cottonwoods that Gramps planted about 1920. He was coming back from Wasta with the team and wagon and just pulled up some little ones and threw them in the back of the wagon and threw wet sand over them. Brought them home and planted them and they almost all grew. They have been slowly dying off in my lifetime. So I've been planting more trees behind them. I love trees. I should move to a forest. Wink

I've probably planted close to a 1000 juniper or ceder trees around in the rocks, on the hills and along the creeks. I hope someday they will get big enough so they start to seed and then the birds can plant them. Wink

If you've got enough trees, the wind does'nt bother you as much. Laughing

On another thread they are talking about government payments. Thats where I've gotten most of mine, from planting tree shelter belts and they cost share. Seems like a good thing to spend tax dollars on.

Did I mention that I love trees? Laughing

Jinglebob,it sounds like you and my father-in-law were cut from the same branch! In our yard alone is a shelter belt of three deep Spruce trees, then we start the ones for fun, chokecherry, saskatoon, plum;apple, nanking cherry, pin cherry.Throw in a Oak tree brought to Alberta from Manitoba, willows, lilac, tame poplar and some HUGE tree that towers MANY feet above our house.Unfortunatly that huge one has to come out Crying or Very sad because it was planted too close to the house,we fear it will fall on house AND its roots are breaking through to the well.I'm sure I missed a few but you get the point!
