TTB- I believe it is Dorgen being investigated-- He was one of the big money recipients....Heres the old list of money- altho I understand more is coming out daily...

The latest "Washington Scuttlebutt" is saying that the investigation will soon drag in former Interior Secretary Gale Norton- that her involvement was one of the reasons for her quick and untimely departure Say what?

I don't care if they are Democrats, Republicans, or the Pope Himself- if they are tied to this MESS they should be outed and prosecuted..... They should never allow things to go back to business as usual in D.C.....

Thanks OT...both are pretty good at "pork barrelling" money...that's why North Dakota is consistently in the top 3, and usually number 1, for the amount of money returned to the state when compared to tax dollars paid in. Certainly something to be proud of Evil or Very Mad Rolling Eyes Mad ; a state that can't even stand on it's own two feet without being held up. And both Dorgan and Conrad are very proud of their ability to do this. Mad Mad

I imagine (unfortunately) that anyone in DC with any type of ties or responsibility to the Native Americans might go down with Abramoff deal...

I say unfortunate because Gail Norton was a true friend to agriculture, and in particular the ranching/grazing community. I hope she doesn't get drug into this (just my opinion.)

Cheers---

Disagreeable, are you sure no Democrats are being investigated? Not too long ago, I know one of the North Dakota Senators (I think Kent Conrad, but could have been Dorgan too) was also included in the investigation because of their ties to Abramoff, to the point they returned their "gifts"....how do I know this??? Because it was about the only thing in the news out of Bismarck for over a week...

Cheers---

Dorgan was named. Simply taking money from Abramoff and/or his clients is not illegal. Anyone can give a donation to any politician as long as they do it within the law. This is the last I saw on Dorgan. Please show me anything that says he's actually being investigated.

TTB- I agree with you...I thought Norton was one of Bush's best picks when he was appointing his cabinet- be sad if she is involved...

Political graft, bribery, and money skimming have been involved with the BIA, tribes, and reservations since even before Custer got his Arrow shirt...

Dis- Burns, like Dorgan, says the money didn't influence him either Say what? Wink Laughing

Harry Reid was taking money from Indian tribes before Abramoff became their lobbyist. He said he did nothing wrong and refused to give the money back. Why should he? It's not wrong to take political contributions as long as it's done within the law.

I've yet to see a Democrat named as a subject of the offical Abramoff investigation. Maybe there will be; but right now, the Abramoff scandal is a Republican one. It's a desparate move on your part to claim otherwise. So far, Tom Delay has resigned, Duke Cunningham is in jail, Ney and Burns are on the hot seat. Frist is under investigation by the SEC. You can't blame the Dems for these investigations. This culture of corruption established by the Republican Party in power has finally caught up with them.
