polled longhorns ??

After reading the post about the "black herefords" I had to laugh at myself, I bought a set of longhorn X angus heifers today. Three of them are polled, all though they look like black and white longhorn cattle. They are all bred to a Corriente bull for March babies, so I shouldn't have any problems with calving. I guess a polled longhorn is an oxymorron, kinda like jumbo shrimp

We breed longhorn and longhorn-corriente crosses to a registered polled shorthorn and 80% of the calves are polled. We now have some 1/4 longhorn and 3/4 polled shorthorns. They are all polled.
If your hiefers are bred to a Corriente bull you will have 90% horned calves. It is possible to breed the horns out of the Longhorn just as it is possible to breed a donkey and Zebra. Sooner or later you will have a Zebra without stripes.

Not quite Shorthorn, remember a Zorse or Zonkey are "Mule" and cannot reproduce.
I had wanted to breed some Longhorn cows to a red Tuli to produce a super hardy F1 (polled) to breed a terminal Angus over, but the drought put toomuch pressure on limited feed reserves!

I'd love to have a good shorthorn bull to breed these girls back to, but I'll probably settle for a polled black. I like shorthorn cattle, but we don't see a lot of them down here.I bet you get a lot of color from that cross too.
