Very interesting story Brad!!! I agree that papers dont mean anything unless your is in dog shows and such. I was glad to see you say that the dog is part of the family as mine are raised and treated the same way. After having them in the home, training them, and the dog knowing what is expected of him/her, there is no way the dog could adjust into a new home. I too have been offered unreal amts of money for a few of my dogs, and asked to have pups, but I just never really found a male I wanted to breed with, and certainly didnt want to end up with "mostly white" in aussies. So we finally bought our own male and happy with the decision. Now I have to figure out how to keep the female from getting pregnant for the next few years, as we will not want to have pups every year.
Mine too are protective and all I have to say is "OWIE OWIE, and the dogs would defend. But as far as driving in the yard...you would be greeted untill we made it clear you were not welcome. Give Suz and Bucky a big hug and kiss from me, they sound like amazing FRIENDS!!!

We have a blue heeler at our place and they seem to be pretty good dogs
I remember though when I was a kid, mom and dad always had a german shepard and that dog would do everything that my blue heeler does
Dad would stand at the gate and start calling the cattle and that dog would be out there rounding the cattle up and bringing them in
But dad's philosophy is most animals are more than happy to please you if you treat them right and give them a reward for doing the right things

| You know I think that papers on anything is overrated horse, dog or bull I think you need to use your head and let them speak for themselves. I do think that if you're looking for a cutting horse don't look at a line of halter horses that is where papers come in useful. As for dogs I am all done taking on someone elses problem. I am looking for a female border out of good working parents and I am ready to pay for one. Nothing can replace good old common sence it also doesn't hurt to be informed on what you are buying.
