Well, today I was going to the hospital to get X-rays on my right shoulder. I was climbing a tree and a branch broke and I was only hanging on with one arm so ya. I got my X rays and went back to school. More doldrum. Whoopie. Then I went to the clinic to have my X-rays looked at and my shoulder re-examined. He said it was a strain, so no more bowhunting for me, untill I see something that needs to be shot Razz. Anyways, I was in the truck on the phone with my mommy telling her I was fine and didn't break anything like she thought. Then, get ready, a bee stang me. The bugger just up and stung me. How rude, huh? I didn't think much of it until I was at school. When I looked in the mirror my face was swelling and my arm I got stung on was huge. Now that I knew what was heppening, I realized it was getting harder and harder to swallow, so I drove myself back uptown to the hospital where I gut a bunch of meds and a couple needles. Oh, and the nurse told me if I wouldn't have been so careless and agitated the bee hive this wouldn't have happened. I just smiled. I'm still not sure where on main street there is a bee hive, but it atill made me giggle haha.

Scary? yes. Interesting? Yes.

But most of all I found it pretty cool. My one arm looks like I'm just ripped. It's huge and awesome and I love it! lol (minus the pain of course)

So if you see me blowing up in a city near you, in my glove compartment, is my epi pen. Only then may you stab me. Razz

The epi-pen won't help you in the glove box, put in your pocket.
Got a Medic Alert tag????? If not YOU NEED ONE!!!!!!!

Yeah but none of them are as fun as that haha

I keep it in the glove box so I don't loose it-when I am out and about I have it in my pocket. Besides, when I need to stretch my legs in times of teenage stupidity, I don't have room running from someone bigger Razz

Had to laugh Very Happy about your big arm muscle! Only a teenager would think of that while heading into anaphylactic shock LOL.

I had a similar experience in July but my tongue swelled up and it was hard to swallow and I had full body hives. Then my blood pressure dropped to 70/40 which was getting a bit too dangerous for my taste. A blood test showed an allergy to: bees, wasps, hornets, yellow jackets AND horse flies! I'd never had a problem before and have been stung many times by all of above except flies.

About epi-pens- they go bad in heat above I think 85 degrees so keeping it in the glove compartment is questionable Exclamation

You dang kid--you are just a WRECK looking for a place to happen!!!!

I'm glad you are laughing THIS TIME, but you BE CAREFUL!!

My grandson was messing with a kid and a tree, and he wound up
with a broken eye socket. No football for him this season. Plus he
got a ride in an ambulance and was in ICU for a while. We're lucky
he still has an eye...

Tell you what, us EMT's don't like having a patient swelling up like a balloon and not having an idea of what is wrong. Now get the Alert on or get a tatoo on your forehead Wink Laughing
Maybe funny now, but I'm sure a lift in a medical helicopter is not much fun. Now those flight nurses are a blast, especially when they think a patient did something stupid.

This is my favorite story told to me by a friend who worked in the local ER.
Ambulance got called to the jail for an inmate complaining of chest pains. Picked him up and took him to the ER. The inmate waited til everyone was busy, stood up and walked out the door. Cops got him 2 blocks away. Took him back to jail. About an hour later same guy faked a heart attack. Ambulance picked him, friend did a sternum rub on him(Ever have one of those done? They hurt like heck!) No reaction. OK now they are going to have fun.
Get this guy to the ER and the Dr tries the rub and a few other tricks, still no reaction. Doc breaks out the ammonia tabs and stuffed 2 of them up his nose. Guy gets up and tells them to take him back to jail he's done.

I think a ride in a helicopter would be pretty cool too haha. And it is 12 degrees celsius here so for the heat wise, its ok in the glove box.

And I was bein careful! I guess reading and doing your homework is deadly now... heh heh.. Mr. Rowe, I didn't do my essay for today because homework almost got me killed last week.. lol. I am so smart Smile

Thanks for the concern everybody. My defense plan for not havin to worry about using the epi pen-do not get stung. Brilliant? I think so.

This week I rec'd this sad email from a friend that said,"Arlette's brother Ron died suddenly on Sunday evening as a result of bee stings he got while mowing the lawn. Never had been allergic before."
I hope you get the allergy shots, Angus, since you're out in the wilds living your wild life with the wild life!
