I went to get today's pics off the camera and like SMN herefords I found some older ones as well.

One of these is an ice sculpture:

The usual suspects:

Where is that danged torch?

And the torch is passed:

Had to pull a calf from a heifer today.... well, not sure if I had to, but I did. By hand. Confused

An early introduction:

A few average schmoes in the day pen.

From a distance:

Great pictures, Silver. Those are quite the ice sculptures. I enjoy the girls' poses as they adopt the mood of the moment. Smile

The calf pulling photos look familiar. We have pulled more calves out of 2-year-old heifers this year than we have for a long time. Good calves, but some are coming kind of hard.

Thanks for posting.

Snow and frozen turds just like here and Big Muddy's. Your cows look good Silver.

Are you three handed or did you have more help pulling? Razz

Thanks for sharing.

I was wondering if anyone was gonna comment on the extra extremity Very Happy
Thankfully Mrs. Silver was there to lend a hand Wink
Hows your weather gcreek? It's cold overnight here (-20C this morning), up to about 5 or 6 this afternoon. Water has been running every afternoon for over two weeks now.

We have had between -15 and -27 for the last 5 mornings, a couple inches of snow day before yesterday and not much melting going on in this time period either.
It has warmed up tonight with a south breeze (-7). We had it warmer through the last two months than it has been for the last week.

That's March, kind of like the female of our specie, never know which way they will turn. Wink Laughing

Great Pics Silver Very Happy . That's really neat you got to see the Olympic torch, thanks for sharing with the rest of us.

I hope your calving goes smoothly. I've thankfully had an opposite experience with heifers than Soap and Little Bow. So far I've pulled two out of the first 57...one was a hard pull and the calf died, the other was a leg back. Some calves have come a little bigger out of a few of the heifers, but not enough to intervene. Funny how many of those larger calves have come out of heifers who were a little bigger at birth themselves... who says calving ease comes entirely from the bull Rolling Eyes Very Happy .

Keep posting pics!
