Last week a cop from our town who is also the animal control officer came by to tell us that there was a complaint we weren't taking care of our horses. That they were malnourished and so on. The women claimed she used to work here, even though we hadn't hired anyone. She argued with him when he said he sits in our driveway three times a week (speed trap) and doesn't see anything wrong. She questioned what he would know and he proceeded to tell her he owns a horse. She asked to remain anonymous. As a matter of procedure the State Vet for animal welfare had to come down. She walked the farm, looked at every horse and couldn't find any infraction. So a report was written and everything was good to go. Now, the question is what procedures can we go through to get the name of this person who called this in?

My wife was talking with the farrier yesterday, I don't know if it was his horse or someone else's he was talking about, but there was a horse in a field with a foot of grass, they were called in for not feeding their horse.

A women who owns a horse about 2 miles away on a back road came by last night to see the new baby, her husband is a cop in our town as well. My wife told her about what happened, she said she had been called in too for her horse not having shelter. He had shelter, it's just that he didn't always like to use it when the weather was bad.

Part of this, the vet told us, is that they want to see equine facilities have to be licensed and inspected in this state. Farm Bureau is fortunately against it.

I cant find the thread that was just before this one about the same thing.
This morning when I looked at my wall I found this from the lady who is a liberertarian lwhen it comes to politics LOL but works for the"humane socity" in NY and has been pushing the "vegan" lifestyle and attacking farmers. She say there are no family ranches/farms that all our food comes from "factory farms" and they abuse the animals.

Had a WONDERFUL time tonight with a great group of people and great food for a great reason! And a special thank you to David Benzaquen of Farm Sanctuary for coming up to Westchester to hang out and educate us on the importance of going VEGAN!

Yes I will admit I am NOT a rancher but as I have been saying for over 4 years yall need to join forces and FIGHT this slander of yalls livelyhood.
They are coming at yall full force and NOW is the time to educate the "city people"

sorry had to check spelling I am sure there are a couple more mistakes in spelling but yall will have to forgive me, I have worked over 120 hours the past 10 days and I have one more to go. Confused

Unless you file a lawsuit your probably won't find out who called you in because people can file complaints anonymously. My family has been raising horses and cattle for more 4 generations on the same property, and a state highway was placed next to our corral. If we keep animals, usually horses in the corral for more than a few days we people call in that we are not caring for our animals. People have even flagged down the local livestock inspector and demanded that she evaluate our animals because we supposedly starved one of our foals to death and left him in the corral. After she made a walk through she later told me that there was a horse sunning himself and she apologized for walking through our corral. Everybody wants to be a hero. Most likely your animals are just visible to the public and there for an easy target.

Visibility is our curse.
I wish it was simple as using the quote from Emperor Palatine in Star Wars, "Wipe them out...all of them."
