"The Association of American Medical Colleges reports that 113 of the nation's 126 medical schools now include discussion of complementary and alternative therapies in conventional medical courses. Seventy-seven offer standalone electives in such approaches as traditional Chinese Medicine and mindfulness-based stress reduction"
(Natural Awakenings, pge 22, by Lisa Marshall)

"No amount of ideological argument ever changed anything. It was when pocketbooks started getting squeezed that people started paying attention. Things are going to get a lot worse, and when they do, the wisdom of what we are doing (alternative medicine) will become even more apparent." (Dr. Andrew Weil)

I keep seeing more and more of this. A lot of it related to the diet - natural vs processed etc. I suspect that the "grass-fed beef" business is going to do very well!

Lady that offices next door to me specializes in adjusting a persons body energy (Energy therapy). Has an average of 4 people a day in her office at $100 a pop. Haven't heard any weird sounds emanating out of her office yet but did smell smoke one day. Turned out she was performing an ear candling on one of her clients. The nature of health care is changing, folks!!

I think this is a good turn of events. It can only help to broaden approaches to health care. If "alternatives' become a more mainstream study, they should become more sound and progress faster.

I have always had a hunch that when the earth was created, it contained in itself, in plant or mineral form, many cures for the ills that have beset humanity ever since we (very early in history) became acquainted with the effects of making wrong choices.

Having said that, I also believe that we will never find all the cures for all our ills on this side of eternity.

It's just a result of the Fall. . .

I guess, they should change the term, because almost all the drugs came from nature, but we can't deny the fact that most of the manufacturer of drugs use synthetic chemicals, but some came from the nature, for sure.

I had acupuncture in SD for my knees and on one visit, he lit things
like candles and burned them on my knees. Helped, too! Shocked
So I had that therapy at a few more visits.

The problem with some of this 'natural stuff' anyway, what turned
us off, is they have you take so darn many supplements. It seems
there is no end to it. I don't know if they are covering ALL their
bases, trying to sell you more product to make more money, or
what their idea is for sure. It's darn sure a turn-off.

i have found myself pondering on this subject for quite awhile.I don't want to stir anyone up with my opinions again, but think this was a good post and it got my attention.

most of my alternative medicine comes from outside the office or pharmacy.and there are more alternatives than just pills.

i think grass fed beef is ok.i went down to the lake fishing and fed my pork, that i raised for my own freezer, fresh PERCH and table scraps.my daughter not only enjoyed feeding the hogs but likes her bacon.

diet and maintaince,to our bodies i think is important.whether it's ingest, inject, rub on,oral, nasal sprays or smoke in the lungs or in the ear.
