Almost looks like that mule is being possessive of the calves and not simply trying to protect the cowboy.

I thought the same thing, wonder how long a calf would last if the mule was left to it's own devices?

thats exactly what its doing...a mule in a pasture with a mare and foal won't let the mom near it..was pretty fun to watch the video though!

That is interesting, it is almost like because it can't have it's own it is super possessive of whatever young it is near.
