LDP, DPJ to urge scientific debate on lifting of beef import ban

TOKYO — Japan's governing Liberal Democratic Party and main opposition Democratic Party said Wednesday they will seek to adopt a resolution calling for "scientific" debate on the lifting of the country's ban on U.S. beef imports.
The parties said they intend to adopt the resolution they jointly drafted through the House of Representatives' Committee on Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries later this month. (Kyodo News)
