since I whacked off the top inch of my left index finger. We have had beautiful weather all week, and I hate to complain, but it was too beautiful. With absolutely no wind for about five days in a row, it became very necessary to rig up pumpjacks to obtain water for our cattle. On Wednesday morning, I had one rockin' and rollin' in good shape, and water was coming out of the leadpipe. All was well, so I unloaded a gallon of gas to set beside the pumpjack. While being distracted watching the cattle as they drank, I walked by the moving pumpjack. Feeling a funny sensation, I looked down to discover the front inch missing from the featured finger. The end of the bone was sticking out with blood gushing everywhere. It took me by too much surprise to even say a bad word. There was nothing left to gather up to even try to reattache. I called Peach on my cell phone and told her to come get me. Then I crossed the fence and stuck my bleeding hand into the cold water coming out of the pipe. It only was clean for a brief moment. As I started walking up the road to meet my ambulance driver, I did take the time to take a picture of my bleeding hand. These photos will not be displayed without your permission. A poll will be conducted to see if you want to see the pictures, and if you do, they will be displayed on a separate post with a gruesome warning attached.
To make a long story short, the doctor ended up amputating the finger to the first joint so a better job could be done in sewing up the damage. I shall get used to the new situation.
Here is how it looks now.

I guess we'll all overlook any typos or mis-spellings for some time.
I used to work with a man with a matched set of likewise altered indices, I was there the morning of Act II.
Also, you don't seem to be the type that would use that digit for communication purposes, but if you're ever tempted, you're covered in the "If thy (fill in the blank) offend thee..." department.
Hang tough Soapweed, hope it feels better, soon.

Well....I for one am glad it wasn't your camera clickin finger....that would be bad. Cuz we'd sure miss your pictures!!!!
But.....Soapweed, I hate to tell you....but that's not your index finger. I know that probably don't make it hurt any less.....but the one beside it to the right is your index one.
Hope it heals quick.

You are sure right, Jersey Lilly. I was thinking it is "thumb, point finger, index finger, ring finger, and little finger." Now I realize it should be "thumb, index finger, middle finger, ring finger, and little finger."
Thanks for the correction. Now if I ever happen to become a contestant on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire," and that question comes up, I won't give the wrong answer.
