I found the main band not far from Simpson Spring, It was mid afternoon and quite hot. They were just hanging out and not wasting any energy, until someone got on the wrong side of the line.
Fifteen miles further west I ran on to about thirty head in a place I thought they had moved out off, for lack of water. With a little patience, I was able to get a couple of action shots.
When I was about to leave, I scanned the country with the glasses. I was thrilled to find a couple of old friends, off by themselves.
One of the rare storms in the west desert had produced enough of a puddle to get the mustangs to travel over fifteen miles from the closest water. This water might last them three or four days. They do like to see the country.
It's been just about two months sense I've seen the twins.
