Cash cattle moved up to $135 late this week. Packers had the orders to go get them so this is a demand market. Could be trump exuberance if not actual economic upturn - might be checkoff demand. Feeders taking advantage of selling opportunities have pulled cattle forward so steer carcasses are ~30# lighter than year ago. Lower weights help us all.

Wasn't cash cattle 1.50 in a few spots just a couple weeks ago? The volatility in this market beats all I've ever seen.

620 pound steer brought $205.50 at Valentine Livestock last Thursday. That calculates out to $1274 per head. Pretty doggoned good.

The bull exchange was kind of fun last Tuesday. It was private treaty out in the pens, which normally is looked down upon but on this day it was legal. :)

If we could have a decent Monday this week looks promising. I think the pack is usually selling Monday.
